Our reputation as a quality organisation, and an employer of choice, has consistently enabled us to secure some of the best people in the industry from trades to engineers, to project managers, from entry level positions through to our leadership team.
We invest in the development of our team through skills-based training programs, formal education, apprentice schemes, and peer-to-peer learning.
Our team includes a full roster of estimators, project managers, procurement, logistics and construction professionals. We have dedicated account managers, a specialist manufacturing capability, and dedicated procurement division with established relationships with materials suppliers.
This means that across our businesses we employ multiple specialists and subject-matter experts to ensure that our clients receive the best possible support, and that we deliver quality project outcomes.
This specialist expertise includes;
Our site teams are highly experienced, and we value the many decades of expertise they have developed working on major projects and building sites across Australia.
All our roofing plumbers are registered with the Victorian Building Authority and have Cert III trade qualifications.
Our project managers and supervisors have a formal qualification such as Cert IV or a Diploma in training and management. We are committed to a Cert IV trained HSE.
The Signal & Hobbs office is staffed with tertiary qualified professionals in key roles that reflect the key professional disciplines required to operate our business and best service our clients.
With the capability and capacity that our clients expect, we have the knowledge and experience to meaningfully engage in ESI (early supplier involvement), concept development, suggesting alternate approaches, and value engineering.
We see apprentice programs as essential for providing the next generation of tradespeople to support our business and the industry.
Our apprentices have the advantage of working and learning within a structured apprentice program from experienced tradespeople and under the guidance of our apprentice co-ordinator, Rob Casey.
Importantly, all our apprentices are trained in a full general plumbing apprenticeship. As a roofing and cladding business, we train them with a specialty in roof plumbing but their qualification is broader maximising their future career opportunities.
Plumbing is a 4-year apprenticeship, and we will often employ 3 or 4 apprentices in one intake. We are mindful of continuing to bring on new first year apprentices each year so that we have a good pool of new team members coming up through the ranks of the business.
Each first-year apprentice is buddied up with a qualified tradesperson so they can learn their job with the right guidance and support. They also attend trade school. Progressing through the program, as 3rd or 4th year apprentices, they can report to the site supervisor and take on a greater level of responsibility in their work.
As part of our structured apprenticeship program, we have a dedicated apprenticeship co-ordinator.
We are always on the lookout for great talent and regularly employ new operational and professional staff as well as apprentices.
