Over five decades, Signal & Hobbs has provided expert estimating for our services to the Victorian Construction Industry.

Peter Signal began with a scale rule and a calculator and worked tirelessly to build a business that has become a leader among our peers. Although the current Directors have replaced the “old tools” with advanced take-off and estimating software, our commitment to estimating experience and expertise remains. And, of course, we’ve continued to expand our estimating team over the years as the volume and complexity of projects has increased.

The high level of service and the quality project outcomes we provide all start with our estimating team who play a critically important role in our business.

All our estimators have a detailed understanding of roof plumbing, cladding and construction. In addition, we have fostered a diversity of skills and experience within our estimating team because our estimators include team members with “pure” estimating backgrounds in roofing and construction as well as estimators who have joined the team after working “on-the-tools” as roof plumbers in our project delivery team and who bring important practical site experience to their work. Signal & Hobbs estimators are extremely well respected in the industry.

We understand that our clients need high-quality estimates from specialist contractor to reduce risk. We welcome ESI (early supplier involvement), estimating, value management, and value engineering phases so that we can apply our technical expertise.

Estimating Expertise

Signal & Hobbs has the capability and capacity to deliver major projects because there is an extended “behind-the-scenes” team within Signal & Hobbs and across the Sighob Group, including our sister businesses, the Roofing and Sheetmetal Centre and SH Roof Maintenance.

Starting with our estimating team and linking all the way through to finance, sales and marketing, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, project management safety, and quality assurance, we have the in-house expertise and a dedicated team of people to support our clients.

Our dedicated manufacturing business – Roofing & Sheet Metal Centre  – operates as part of the SigHob Group to support Signal & Hobbs as an important part of our supply chain. RSC locally manufactures the many roofing and sheet metal products, like flashings, brackets, skylights, and hatches, that we use in the delivery of major roofing projects.

Regardless of whether these elements are custom-made for a purpose or fabricated in batches for repeated applications on a project, we blend our in-house manufacturing capability with our expert procurement and logistics team to make sure that everything is produced, procured and delivered to site ready for installation by our site team – that operates as part of the Sighob Group to support Signal & Hobbs.

Procurement to Project Management

Once construction is completed, our specialist maintenance division – SH Roof, operating as part of the SigHob Group - is also available to service direct and end user clients on a longer-term basis to maintain the condition and performance of their roof.
